Main Trunk System Features in more detail
Private conversations
Private conversation allows users to selectively call individual radios and hold conversations that other radios on the system do not hear. Private conversation prevents other system users from hearing a conversation not intended for them. It also reduces operator fatigue and annoyance by eliminating the need for radio listeners to hear conversations not concerning them.
Missed Call
If a call is not answered, the identity of the calling party is stored by the radio. Up to five missed calls can be stored. If the same radio calls more than once the call is only stored once. When five calls have been stored, the sixth will overwrite the first. After a call has been stored a tone will sound every ten seconds and the display will show “Missed Calls”. The radio user upon their return can simply use the menu function of the radio to identify the caller and then return the call or calls.
Transmit ID
A calling radios identity will be displayed in the receiving radios display. This eliminates the need to use additional airtime to establish the identity of a caller by voice message. Other advantages include discouraging inappropriate use of a radio since the positive identity of a caller is shown.
Emergency Calls
Emergency alarm calls would normally be used to inform the main control unit of a life threatening situation. By pushing the emergency button, the user can get a voice channel, even if all traffic channels are in use. A voice channel will be taken away from a user with lower priority or the oldest call.
Group Call
Group call is used to make a simultaneous call to all radios within a talk group. Radio users who are receiving or transmitting on another call will not hear the call. They will join the call if it is still in progress once they have finished. Everyone in the group call has a talk back capability.
Sub-Group Call
Sub-Group call is used to make a simultaneous call to predefined group of radios within a talk group. Radio users who are receiving or transmitting on another call will not hear the call. They will join the call if it is still in progress once they have finished. Everyone in the sub-group call has a talk back capability.
Busy Queueing
Any user requesting system access when all channels are busy will be put into a queue. The queued radio will be assigned a traffic channel on a first in-first out basis. This feature makes it unnecessary for the radio user to waste time keying his radio in an effort to gain system access.
